"Ateljé Söder om syd" is a reference to us being located south of the most southern highway (E65) in Sweden. We are only a short couple of kilometers from being at the very southern tip of the country.
My story with wood begins when I was 8-9 years old and my grandfather taught me how to make a wooden whistle from a sallow tree branch. In my eyes it was magic. Arts and crafts stayed with me throughout the years in diffrent shapes. Meeting my brilliant wife meant a total
submergence into the world of design, me coming from a hands-on approach to form and aesthetics, and she coming from academia.
This studio was first my project, but as time went by I became more and more reliant on her for basicly every aspect of creating. Now we work together to create a coherent assortment of wooden products. Together we aim to create a brand of products that will stand the test of time.

The focus has always been to create lasting products that can be potential heirlooms. In order to celebrate wood in best way possible, we sometimes make artistic decision that benefit form over function. All things we make we encourage people to use; platters , bowls and vase like sculptures may serve different purposes but nonetheless are designed to be used. The kitchen and diningroom table is close to our hearts since it's in those rooms families finds strength, bonding and keep traditions alive.
